As part of a wider project to co-produce data research with care-experienced young people, the Administrative Data Research Centre Northern Ireland (ADRC NI, part of ADR Northern Ireland) offers a summer internship for a Research Assistant post. The internship is supported by Voice of Young People in Care (VOYPIC) and the Widening Participation Unit at Queen’s University Belfast. As an expert by lived experience, the intern’s role was to develop resources to support co-produced research. The Nursing and Midwifery Council Register linked to Census 2021 – England and Wales dataset is now available for accredited researchers to apply to access via the Integrated Data Service. This ADR UK flagship dataset enables analysis of the wider dynamics of the nursing and midwifery professions – and what these might mean for entry and retention in the workforce.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has shared an update to the timeline for the transition from the ONS Secure Research Service (SRS) to the Integrated Data Service (IDS). The ONS SRS front door will no longer close in September 2024, and the service will continue to accept new project applications beyond this point.
This article discusses the experiences and insights of Dr Emma Gordon, Director at ADR UK, and Bill South, Research Service and Data Access Deputy Director at the Office for National Statistics, during their recent visit to Chile. Their main objective was to share learning from the ADR UK partnership’s approach to data sharing and linkage, to inform Chile’s direction. This visit was conducted in collaboration with Consorcio IDI, a consortium of universities working with civil servants dedicated to building an integrated data infrastructure in Chile, and funded by the British Embassy in Chile.
